Travel Baseball Bat Regulation change for 2018

Parents of current and future travel baseball players,

There is a new baseball bat standard for 2018 called the “USA Baseball Bat standard”  The Metro Baseball League (MBL) is requiring bats for next season adhere to this new standard.  Gopher State (GSBL) will not be requiring USA Bats for 2018 but we expect they will in the future.

We slot teams between MBL and GSBL to best match level of competition and reduce drive time.   This year, we plan to have most of our travel teams play MBL to further reduce drive times. The feedback from the teams that have moved in prior years has been very positive.

Here is our expected league line up for 2018:

All 10U, 11U, 12U, 14U will play in MBL and require the new USA bats

15A will also play in MBL and require USA Bats

We expect 15AAA will play in GSBL but can use BBCOR standard in either league

9U and 13U will play in GSBL and can use the old bats.

We are sending you this note now to alert you to the new standard.  If you are buying a new bat for 2018, we advise you to purchase one that adheres to the new USA standard.     The BBCOR USSSA stamp is the old standard and does not mean the bat is compliant with the new standard.

Look for the logo below stamped on the bat to insure compliance with new standard:

Note that age specific width and length/weight differentials still apply.
